Mud glorious mud!

Spen athletes were at the West Yorkshire cross country races on Sunday at Beckett Park, Leeds. In the under thirteen girl's race Isabel Toher finished 18th leading other Spen runners Emily Sharp (46th) and Sophia Fougler (48th) to tenth team place. Once again the under eleven girls were the leading Spen team with Poppy Henson placing 2nd and leading Imogen Atkinson (11th), Ruby Lucas (18th), and Millie Rhodes (21st) to a fine second team place. Matthew Dalton was 19th in the in the under 15 boy's race while Miles Sharp placed 7th and William McIntosh 30th in the under 11 boy's race.

The senior men's team finished in seventh place thanks to a good run from Joe Sagar. Joe placed 8th while other scoring Spen runners were Tom Dart (28th), Edward Revell (44th), Neil Barker (62nd), Paul Toher (71st) and Henry Carter (86th). Craig Thompson (127th), Stephen Hunt (135th) and Dave Butler (141st) were other Spen runners. Spen's senior women were led in by Laura Thornton who placed 37th with other Spen runners Natasha Greere, (41st) and Angela Hall (42nd). International runner Alex Bell from Pudsey won the race.

The next race in the series will be hosted by Spenborough Athletics Club on 8th December on the fields behind the Princess Mary Stadium.
