Grand Prix Round 2

The second fixture in the Grand Prix series was the Eccup 10, 9 Spen athletes conquered the course on a hot, sunny and windy day.

Paul Watson was the first runner round in a yellow and gold vest, beating his Personal Best time by over 4 minutes. Neil Barker was next to finish the course in a time just fractionally behind the last 10 Mile race he ran in 2018 and finished 4th in his category. The first Spen female round to the finish Angela Hall and claimed a piece of silverware finishing in third place in her category! Next up was Kevin Ogden who managed to beat his time from last year by over a minute to finish 8th in his category. Not far behind was Edward Revell and Gerrard Skippins who could only be split apart by one other person and by one second in a very close finish. Dave Butler was back on British soil and donning his red and gold vest to finish 13th in his category. Not too far behind Dave was Ian Ogden whose tired legs and troubles with the weather conditions drop him off his target but still ran a good race to get round to the end. Angela Buckle was the second Spenborough woman around the course and finished just outside of her time from last year.

Well Done to all for their great efforts given the circumstances. The Third GP Race is the Helen Winsor 10K on the 6th July.
