The first meeting of the West Yorkshire Track & Field League was hosted by Wakefield Harriers and open to all athletes, from Under 11's to senior. A great place to try out a different discipline, compete for a PB or just going along to meet up with other athletes.

There was a great turnout and some fantastic performances by Team Spen.

Well done to Glenn Aspindle, Darren Thomas and Jake Darby for stealing most of the points in the seniors and U20, Natasha Geere on a fantastic PB in the 3000m, Molly Waring for winning just about everything in the U20's including pb's in the 100m and Long Jump; Charlotte Bell, Conor Bell and James Bell for lots of points and pb's, Geoff Render managing 3 events including a pb in the Long Jump, Henry Carter for going outside his comfort zone and trying new things as well as stealing loads of points in the 800, Fiona and Beth Thomas in the Ladies field events, racking up a massive 34 points between them including 3 event wins and for Beth a League record in the Hammer. Holly Martin in the senior Ladies 100m and shot, Lydia Hall in the 200m and a pb in the 100m and last but not least, Amanda Perason in the 800m. We had a few junior athletes too (U11 Boys Ben Whitaker, U13 Boys James Bell, Max Broadley, U17 Men Luke Marshall, Conor Bell, U13 Girls Molly Firth) with some great performances, loads of officials and supporters and a great team atmosphere.

No one outstanding performance of the day, but Glenn's 51.60m in the javelin and 6m+ long jump were mightily impressive! Team Spen in 2nd place in Division 1!! Well done to all!!

Individual points totals also available here.
