The third fixture of the Yorkshire and District season saw us travel into South Yorkshire as the Junior Team faced off the other teams at Cudworth.

At the half way point of the season, the team had accumulated two second place finishes and looked to keep up the positivity with good results at this fixture.

Estelle Williams got the day kicked off with a victory in the Under 17 Ladies 300m Hurdles as she cleared the barriers in a Personal Best time. It was then a third place finish in the Long Jump being fractions away from a Season’s Best distance and a well fought fourth place finish in the 100m.

Olivia Myers joined Estelle in the 100m and a strong run earnt her a second place finish, which was backed up with a second place in the Long Jump, before all being topped off with a victory in the Shot Putt with her second longest throw of the season.

In the Under 17 Men’s, Cole Parrish sprinted his way to a second place finish in the 100m, along with a third place finish in the 200m with his third quickest time of the season.

Joe White joined the team for the first time and hit the ground running or more like leaping, as he jumped into first place in the Under 17 Men’s Long Jump as well as a close fourth place in the 100m.

The Under 15 girls kept the good results rolling in as Millie Rhodes did the double in the 200m and 300m sprints cruising her way into first place, before going on to record her second longest jump of the year in the Long Jump to finish in second place, only to be beaten by…

Milana Bulgin who leapt to a Season’s Best distance in the Long Jump which claimed her the victory, it was also a victory for Milana in the 100m sprint and for the clean sweep it was yet another victory in the High Jump.

Abigail Lane strengthened the team as her strong run in the 200m earnt her a second place and second fastest time of the season, a comfortable second place in the 100m followed before another second place finish in the High Jump.

The Under 15 Boys were not going to be out done, as William McIntosh showed his strength with a victory in the 200m with his second quickest of the season, another first place in the 300m and topped off with a second place in the High Jump with his second highest height of the season.

Ben Whitaker ran an exciting race in the 200m to finish comfortably in second place, dropping down the distance in the 100m it was another strong second place run and his second longest throw of the season in the Discus lead to a fourth place finish.

Jack Worsnup ran his second fastest time of the season in the 300m sprint and claimed a fourth place finish, then moving up the distance from previous fixtures to the 1,500m and it was an impressive second place finish and finished his day off with a first try at the Shot Putt with a fourth place finish.

Harry Rogerson had a first try at Discus and just missed out on a first place finish in an impressive showdown, it was then a second second place finish in the Shot Putt and to finish his day off it was a Personal Best jump in the Long Jump.

Reece Bridgeman was on the verge of three PB’s as he ran his second quickest 800m to secure fourth place, followed by his third quickest sprint over the 100m for another fourth place finish and in the Long Jump leapt to his second furthest jump of all time.

Robert Harness joined the team for the first time and his impressive run over the 80m Hurdles earnt him a second place finish just fractions away from the win. He then went on to run the 800m where a gutsy run earnt him a third place finish.

On to the Under 13 Girls where Eva Armitage sprinted her way to a first place finish in the 150m, a well fought 800m lead to a second place finish being fractions off a PB time, before ending her day with a comfortable well run second place finish in the 75m.

Hannah Whitaker equalled her PB with an impressive run in the 75m as she finished in first, a long leap saw her into another first place finish in the Long Jump, all finished off with a second place finish over the 150m.

Abigail Hildon joined the team once again and took on the longest run for the Under 13’s as she claimed first place in the 1,200m, beating her PB time once again to continue her pattern of getting quicker every race.

In the Under 13 Boys, Noah Bryne also took on the longest run as he tackled the heat to finish in second place closing in on beating his PB time. It was then a third place finish in the Long Jump.

We managed to get one relay team out, however not in the intended relay through a mix up (there’s always a learning point), so the Under 15 boys ended up moving up to the 4x300m from the 4x100m. With the sudden switch we were proud of the team of Whitaker, Worsnup, Rogerson and McIntosh for finishing the day strongly in second place.

So as the day came to an end and the points had been tallied up once again, the results sent out and the scores on the doors are….. (Drum roll please)

After three fixtures we’ve achieved three second place finishes as a team. One fixture remains and it’s back home at the Princess Mary Stadium on the 23rd of July as we look to close the season out continuing the positive momentum.
