A League Record, League Points, Personal Bests and Seasons Bests. Fixture 5 of the West Yorkshire T&F League had it all!

Fixture 5 of the West Yorkshire Track & Field League was back at the Princess Mary Stadium, with the second weekend fixture of the year, it was yet another action packed day for all age groups.

Starting with the Under 11 Girls, where Stella Zurek had herself a great day earning a third place finish in both the 600m and Long Jump achieving Personal Bests (PB) in both, as well as an equal PB time in the 75m. Connie Walker also achieved a PB in the 600m before going on to run her second best of the season in the 75m and jump her second best distance in the Long Jump.

In the Under 11 Boys, John Moore sprinted his was to a third overall in the 75m after winning his race and finishing in a new PB time. Raees Muftee gained himself a PB distance in the Shot Putt as he also picked up a league point, it was then a second best time of the year in the 600m and third best time of the season in the 75m. Joshua Myers sprinted his way to a new PB time in the 75m, a third best of the season in the Shot Putt and also managed to fit in a run in the 600m. Aidan Rhodes also sprinted in the 75m and finished in his third best tie of the season as well as a third best of the season in the Shot Putt.

Eva Armitage had a big PB run in the Under 13 Girls 800m finishing in second place, it was then a fourth place finish in the 100m to add more points to her tally and then an equal Seasons Best (SB) jump in the High Jump. Lucy Hird leapt her to a new PB time in the 70m Hurdles finishing fifth and adding points to her tally, a third place in her race in the 100m in a second best time of the season before going on to a first try in the Discus. Maria Edwards was electric as she sprinted to a new PB time in the 100m before going on to run her third best time of the season in the 800m. Gabi Lauce also competed for the club for the first time attempting the 100m sprint, 70m Hurdles as well as the 800m setting good bests in all.

Kieran Hird continued his impressive displays in the league, finishing with a PB and a third place finish in the 200m, a sixth place in the Long Jump further advanced his points tally and had his second best distance of the season in the Shot Putt.

In the Under 15 Girls, Millie Rhodes sprinted her way to another victory in the 200 as she ran her third quickest time of the season. Rosie Hildon earnt herself a new PB time in the 200m, as well as a third place finish in her race in the 75m Hurdles with a third best time of the season. Abigail Hildon also earnt herself a new PB in the 800m as she added points to her tally, along with a first try at the Discus.

The Under 15 Boys saw George Thompson have an impressive day earning a new PB in the 100m finishing third in his race, a third place finish in the 80m Hurdles and another PB time, before going on to a fourth place finish in the Long Jump with a final new PB to add to the collection. Harry Rogerson added to his points tally in the 80m Hurdles as he finished in fifth place with a second best time of the season as well as finishing in second place in the Shot Putt with a second best of the season. Reece Bridgeman had a strong run in the 100m finishing in fourth in his race as well as his fourth best distance in the Long Jump for the year. Joshua Reed had his first competition attempts at the 100m, the Long Jump and also the Shot Putt setting strong bests in all of them.

Olivia Myers accumulated more points to increase her league total in the Under 17 Women’s, finishing in second place with a PB throw in the Hammer, another second place came in the Triple Jump and another PB came in the 80m Hurdles with a third place finish.

Seb Bartocha advanced himself into first place in the standings finishing first place in the Under 17 Men’s 100m Hurdles on first competition attempt, another victory came in the Javelin before finishing his day with a second place and second best height of the season. Robert Harness added to his points tally in the 400m as he finished in fourth place with a new PB time, it was then a first try at both the 3,000m and also the Javelin setting good bests in both.

Estelle Williams kept herself in podium contention with a victory on first competition attempt of the Triple Jump, it was then a third place finish in the 200m with her second best time of the season and finished with a fourth place finish in the 800m with her third best time of the season.

Glenn Aspindle vaulted his way to a victory new PB in the Senior Men’s Pole Vault and earnt himself the league record as he smashed the previous record! It was then more first place finishes for Glenn as he won the High Jump and also the Javelin. Jake Darby had a Season’s Best day earning a SB in the High Jump finishing third, an SB in the Pole Vault to finish joint second and then another SB came as he finished sixth place in the 400m to accumulate more points. Kieran O’Brien leapt to a PB in the Hj to finish in fourth place, a fourth place and second best height of the season in the Pole Vault followed and finished with a PB throw and third place finish in the Javelin.

Molly Waring’s unbeaten run continued in the Senior Women league, finishing with a first place finish and new Personal Best time in the 200m and going on to another first place finish in the 800m in her second best time of the season. Soraya Crodden earnt herself more league points as she finished with an SB in the 200m and a second place finish in the 200m, it was a third place finish in the 800m with a second best time of the season and a further second place came in the Triple Jump with another second best of the season. Siobhan Maskill joined the Pole Vault and managed to vault herself to a first place finish and a brand new PB height. Summer Haynes finished second in the Pole Vault as she managed an equal PB height as well as a first attempt at the Triple Jump scoring points from a fifth place finish.

One fixture to go and a lot to play for as Spen athletes look for podium finishes and hold the team in second place in the premier division teams point tally.

Next fixture Wednesday 7th August at the Princess Mary Stadium.
