The first West Yorkshire cross country league race of the season began in Keighley on Saturday. A great start for the Spenborough club came when Poppy Henson won the under 11 girl's race.
Spenborough's senior men were led in by Tom Dart who placed 25th of 150 runners. Other Spen runners were Edward Revell (43rd), Neil Barker (58th), Henry Carter (67th), Scott Alder (70th) and Paul Toher (88th). Other senior runners were Gerald Skippins (100th ), Dave Butler (128th) and Jason Newell (148th). The Spen team placed 9th.
In the senior women's race Laura Thornton placed 29th and Sara Wallace was 44th.
