Spenborough's Seniors gave a strong display at home in the Northern League.

The second senior league fixture saw our only fixture the club has at home this year, on a day that started as overcast before becoming a nice summers afternoon.

The track started with a win for Molly Waring in the 400 Hurdles in a season bests time, as well as an SB in the 200 and high jump backed up with a second place in the 100 hurdles. Holly Martin claimed victory in the 200m with a SB backed up with a strong run in the 400m. Also in the sprints, Soraya Crodden finished victorious in the 100m and a great run to finish second in the 400m as well as a second in the discus. Isabel White joined the team for the first time picking up a second place in the 100m. In the longer distances Ellie Holden ran a Personal Best in the 1500m and ran another good race in the 3,000m along with Mia Butler, who ran a PB in the 3,000 and an SB in the 1500m. Ellie also competed in the field in the long jump whilst Mia threw her way to third place in the Javelin. Also in the throws Megan Ascough threw SB’s in the Hammer, Discus and Shot to finish second, second and third respectively.

In the men’s team, Glenn Aspindle threw his way to victory in the Javelin, second in the Pole Vault, third in the High Jump and forth in the Long Jump in a hectic schedule. Tom Dart ran a Personal Best time in the 5k to finish third with Henry Carter also running and finishing third place in his race. Ian Ogden once again re-joined the team running in the 800m and 1500m with Kevin Ogden joining him in the 1500m. In the Sprints Jaden Mills also re-joined the team running a good race in the 100m, joined by Tyler Cossin equalling his PB time and a strong race in the 200m.James Bell moved up again running impressive races in the 200m and 400m. In the Jumps, Ruben Byfield jumped a PB in the Triple Jump and a great jump in the Long Jump to finish second. In the throws Jake Darby threw SB’s in the Hammer and Shot Putt as well as throwing in the Discus. Connor Bell competed in all the throws with an impressive display and picking up a SB in the Javelin along the way.

Team Spen managed to field 3 relay teams, the women’s team showed their might with a victory in the 4x100m (Martin, Waring, Crodden & White). The men’s team fielded both the 4x100m (Aspindle, Darby, Cossin & Bell) and the 4x400m (K.Ogden, I.Ogden, Dart & Carter).

Thank you to our officials for helping they day run smoothly again especially with other teams being irritating. Next meeting on the 4th July at Hallamshire.
