The 2026 instalment of the Yorkshire County Championships didn’t quite have the same heat wave feel as 2025 did but the dull skies weren’t going to set the tone for the weekends action. 2025 saw a rise in Spenborough AC competitors and 2026 only went on to rise that again with 21 competitors, the most we have had in recent history!
No one seemed to have a busier schedule over the weekend that Glenn Aspindle did as he competed in 5 events. Glenn claimed the County Champion title in the Senior Men’s Pole Vault, a Silver Medal followed in the Javelin, before picking up three Bronze Medals in the High Jump, Shot Putt and Discus to earn a medal in each event.

Jess Bowman made her championship debut with a impressive display in the Under 16 Girl’s 300m heats, finishing second and advancing to the final with an SB time. In a highly contested final, it was a fourth place finish for Jess. The next day it was the 200m heats for Jess where she finished sixth in her heat but didn’t progress further.
