
A very warm humid day set the scene for the West Yorkshire Schools Track and Field Championships hosted at the Leeds Beckett Uni Campus. Though not competing in the Red and Yellow Spen Vest for a change and instead representing their School District colours, 6 Spen athletes took part in the championships.
William McIntosh stormed the Junior Boys 300m finishing in first place with a new Personal Best time. In the Junior Girls 300m, Millie Rhodes also took the crown finishing in first place. In the Junior Boys 200m, Ben Whitaker raced to a new Personal Best time.
In the Field, Olivia Myers leapt to a Personal Best Distance leading to a first place finish in the Intermediate Girls Long Jump. Also in the Junior Girls Long Jump Milana Bulgin jumped into a third place finish.
In the Senior Boys Triple Jump, Rueben Byfield Hop, Stepped and Jumped his way to a first place finish in a Personal Best Distance as well.
Three Spenborough Athletes were named as part of the West Yorkshire team to take part at the English Schools Track and Field Championships in July.
