Spen athletes travelled down to the EIS in Sheffield to take part in the Senior, U20 and U17 Northern Indoor Championships.

Last weekend saw the Northern Indoor Championships take place in Sheffield EIS, for the Under 17’s, 20’s and Seniors.

Glenn Aspindle rose to the challenge in the Senior Men’s Pole Vault reaching a huge new PB height of 4.20 metres after breaking the 4m barrier for the first time and his efforts earnt him a Bronze medal.

In the Senior Women’s Molly Waring finished 4th in a strong heat in the 400m but unfortunately wasn’t enough to progress to the final. Also in the Senior Women’s 400m, Siobhan Maskill set a PB time in her heat finishing 5th and also leapt to a PB distance in the Long Jump, before also taking on the Shorter distances of 200m and 60m.

In the Under 20 men Ben Morris took on the 200m and finished 5th place in his heat. In the Under 20 Women Emily Sharp threw a PB throw in the Shot Putt and claimed a 4th place in the 1500m. Estelle Williams competed in the Under 20 Women’s Long Jump in a tightly contested large field finishing 16th.

In the Under 17 Women’s Olivia Myers jumped to a new PB in the Long Jump to reach the final and finish 5th place before doing the same in the Triple Jump with a 5th place finish and PB, rounding the weekend off with 9th place in the Shot Putt. Seb Bartocha competed in the Under 17 Men’s 60m and 200m sprints and run strong races in both just missing out on the semi-finals. Ethan Williams made the finals of the Under 17 Men’s Shot Putt and managed to gain a 7th place finish.
