Three Spenborough & District AC Athletes Represented West Yorkshire Schools

The Senior League wasn’t the only athletics taking part this past weekend, as the English Schools Track and Field Championships Finals took place in Manchester on Friday and Saturday.

Three Spenborough Athletes had qualified back in May and been selected as part of the West Yorkshire team and got to wear the Blue and White vest of West Yorkshire, rather that the Red and Gold of Spenborough for a change. Natalie Groves and Bayleigh Lawton both ran in the 400m heats, while Isabel White ran in the 200m heats.

Natalie managed to run her second quickest time of the year in her heats of the Senior Girls 400m Heats, running 57.60 and managed a third-place finish progressing her to the final.
Bayleigh Lawton ran in the 400m Senior Boys heats and also ran his second fastest time of the year to win his heat in 48.57, which also saw him progress to the final.

Isabel White joined the club, as she too ran her second quickest time of the year in the Senior Girls 200m heats finishing 5th and just missing out on a spot in the final.

Day 2 came around and the great form continued as a Personal Best time for Natalie Groves in the 400m Final gave her a well earned third place finish and the Bronze medal for 2022.
Bayleigh Lawton was no different, as he too ran a Personal Best time in his 400m Final and also earned a well deserved Bronze medal and third place finish.

Congratulations to all three athletes, you represented both West Yorkshire and Spenborough incredibly!
