Spenborough & District AC now has a portable AED

Shannan Greenwood was an outstanding junior athlete at the club who was breaking numerous records in the West Yorkshire League. Unfortunately she suffered an illness which meant she had to have her kidneys removed and was on dialysis for some time.

Stuart Hall, her coach, with the help from his wife Grace and assisted by the club, organised an Open Track & Field Meeting for the purpose of raising funds to assist the family to have a holiday.

Recently the family contacted Stuart and wished to donate to the club as a thank you for the help received at a very distressing time for them. A decision was made to purchase an AED. AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) are an essential health and safety tool to have in place at sports clubs. With many sudden cardiac arrests (SCAs) occurring at sports venues across the country from high profile athletes to amateur players, lives can be saved by having a defibrillator at sport clubs.

Spenborough & District AC is very grateful to the Greenwood family for their kind donation and their support of athletes young and old at the club.
