Another third place finish for team Spen, with the under 13 girls stacking up the Personal Bests.

zStarting in the Under 15 Boys sprints where a tight race in the 100 metres pushed Bayleigh Lawton to a Pb time to claim victory, followed by another impressive victory in the 200 metres as well. James Bell started the day with a Pb throw in the hammer to become the victor, as well as running a Pb time in the 80m hurdles as well as impressive jumps in the high jump. Also in the high jump, Reuben Byfield had a first try after jumping in the long jump and setting a personal best in the 200 metres to rake in the clubs points. Lucian Dent made his third appearance of the season to set a pb in the 80 metre hurdles to win, backed up with a second in the javelin and a first try at the 300 metre for a third place finish. Matthew Dalton jumped his way to a season’s best in the long jump as well as finish the 800 metres in second place, just missing out on a pb, before completing his day with a third in the shot. Oliver Midgley and Jack Flather made their debuts, with Oliver finishing second in the shot putt, a second place in the 800 metres and a strong third place finish in the 300 metres. It was a tough run in the 100 metres for little Jack, compared to the much taller competition but a powerful run lead to him adding to the points total nicely, especially with a second place in the javelin.

In the under 15 girls, Lily Croughan stacked up the points with an early win in the hammer along with two well won second place finishes in the shot putt and the javelin.

The under 13 girls were back in force again with Olivia Myers running a Pb in the 75 metres and equalling her PB in the hurdles as well as spearing salmon in the javelin to add to the club points total. It was a change of style in the 1200 metres for Sophia Foulger as she took an early lead and dominated it all the way to the finish to claim a well-earned victory in a big Pb time, another Pb came in the javelin for a third place finish as well as a strong run in the 150 metres. Lauren Dalton knocked a whole second off her 150 metre time to add to the Pb list, pipping her way to a third place finish. Another Pb followed in the long jump and topped her day with a final Pb in the shot putt. All the under 13 girls gained a Pb on the day with Megan Beal running a Pb time in the 75 metres, just setting a new Pb in the long jump, before going on to win the shot putt with yet another Pb.

We fielded three relay team in total, the most so far for us this season. The u13 girls’ team of Foulger, Beal, Dalton and Myers and the u15 boys’ team of Dent, Lawton, Flather and Bell all navigated the baton around the 4x100 relay. With the under 15 boys’ team of Dalton, Midgley, Flather and Byfield successfully completing the 4x300 metres.

Well done to all the athletes, all should be proud of yourselves, with almost every athlete picking up a Pb again!
