BiographyI'm Lisa and here's my story. 10 years ago I used to be over 17 stone and couldn't run for a bus !! I started jogging. No structure. Just having a go.
I got some weight off and did a few 10ks and half marathons and did improve a bit, but then plateaud. Just couldn't get faster and decided to attend Spen beginners course.
5 years ago I joined Spen AC in summer of 2013. A friendly all-inclusive club with people who can run 5k in 15 mins and others in 45 mins. We support EVERYONE.
Since then I've achieved 100 metre sprint gold medal. Had a go at shot putt, and run not one, but TWO marathons!
I've gained a second family. I love running and the buzz it gives you. I've won "most improved road runner" trophy twice in 5 years and am so proud if my achievements to date, including London Marathon this year.
I'm not fast, I'm still overweight, but I put in the effort and have a go. That's all YOU need to do too.
You don't need to have aspirations to run long distance. Whether you want to just aim for a 5k for the first time, or to improve your 10k time and have structure to your training, then we can help
