With many of our runners running in the Abbey Dash 10km race in Leeds on Sunday there were a few missing from the team that turned out for the third West Yorkshire Cross Country League race at Keighley on Saturday. On a muddy hilly course in the grounds of Cliffe Castle the senior men placed ninth team. The men were lead in by Kevin Ogden in 11th place followed by Martin Hall (63rd), Gerard Skipping (79th), Stephen Hunt (84th), Dave Butler (112th), Grant Cooper (118th) and Mick Dransfield (120th). The race was won by international fell runner Tom Adams from Ilkley. In the senior women's race Natasha Greere (34th) and Sarah Barker (68th) were only Spen runners. In the younger age races Courtney Benson placed twenty third in the under seventeen women's race. The under fifteen girls team of Molly Warring (31st), Lydia Hall (45th) and Alice Cooper (46th) placed eigth team. Harry Brackenridge was 16th in the under thirteen boy's race and in the under thirteen girl's race Olivia Reah placed 40th and Mia Butler was 63rd. Jack Barraclough placed 53rd in the under eleven boy's race and Molly Firth placed 28th in under eleven girl's race.

At the Leeds Abbey Dash on Sunday Joe Saggar continues his good running placing 159th from over nine thousand finshers in a time of 33 mins 14 secs. Kevin Ogden recovered well from the previous day's race placing 257th in a time of 34 mins 54 secs. Other leading Spen runners were Simon Bolland (306th, 35m 43s) and Paul Davis (349th, 36m 06s).
