Spenborough's senior men maintained their consistency in the third West Yorkshire Cross Country League race of the season at Keighley on Saturday by finishing fifth team having placed in the same position in the previous fixtures. While previous team leaders Kevin and Josh were missing for this race they would have had to race well to beat Liam Steadman who led the team with a fine run in 10th place. Liam was followed by Paul Davis (20th), Simon Bolland (30th), Martin Peck (53rd), Gerard Skippin (56th) and Neil Barker (67th). Other senior men to finish were Oliver Carter (80th), Ian Wilson (83rd), Ian Ogden (101st), Robert Moon (116th), Dave Butler (127th), Lee Dolman (132nd), Mick Dransfield (135th) and Grant Cooper (140th). Dominic Easter from Leeds won the race. I have not seen any overall team positions yet but we could be battling with Bingley for third place.

Spenborough's senior women's team placed ninth. Mollie Flannery led them in 33rd place followed by Natasha Greere (44th), Kirsty Moon (65th) Clare Thompson (69th). Other senior women were Jackie Carter (86th) and Sharon Cooper (102nd). The race was won by international fell runner Katie Walshaw from Holmfirth.

Among the younger athletes Tobin Rhodes finished tenth and Georgia Smith-Calvert placed fifteenth in the under seventeen men's and women's races respectively. Courtney Benson was twenty sixth and Alice Cooper fortieth in the under fifteen girl's race. Nickolas Brackenridge (42nd) and his brother Harry (37th) ran in the under fifteen and thirteen boy's races. Alicia Rose finished 73rd in the under thirteen girl's race while in the first races of the day under eleven boy Jack Quinn finished fortieth and under eleven girl Natalie Groves was Spen's highest individual in eight place.
