Spenborough's Joshua Woodcock-Shaw made a gallant effort to win the second West Yorkshire Cross Country League race of the season at West Park, Leeds on Sunday. For much of Sunday's race he was with the leading group but eventually he finished seventh behind winner Tom Bean from York. The senior men consolidated their place among the leading teams repeating their fifth of the first fixture. Kevin Ogden led the rest of the senior men in 21st place followed by Paul Davis (36th), Simon Bolland (54th), Gerard Skippin (64th) and Oliver Carter (75th). Other senior men to finish were Martin Peck (92nd), Ian Ogden (95th), Martin Hall (99th), Dave Butler (143rd), Mick Dransfield (166th), Lee Dolman (175th) and Grant Coper (183rd).

Spenborough's senior women's team placed twelfth. Becky Rowlands led them in 33rd place followed by Mollie Flannery (42nd), Natasha Greere (56th) and Emma McGuire (69th). Other senior women were Clare Thompson (75th), Sophie McIntosh (85th), Sarah Barker (90th), Karen Crowther (91st) and Sharon Cooper (102nd). The race was won by international fell runner Emma Clayton from Leeds.

There were some good runs from the younger athletes. Tobin Rhodes finished fourteenth and Henry Carter thirty second in the under seventeen men's race. Georgia Calvert-Smith placed nineteenth in the under seventeen women's race. The only Spenborough young athletes team to finish were the under fifteen girls. Molly Warring was thirtieth leading Lydia Hall (37th) and Alice Cooper (39th) to tenth team place.
